Cement industry is one of the biggest CO2 emitters in the world, accounting for about 7%-8% of global CO2 emissions. Cement makers in Sub-Sahara Africa have committed to decarbonization and low carbon cement production by embracing alternative fuels to power their cement plants and modernizing clinker lines to reduce energy consumption. In line with the Global Cement and Concrete Association’s 2050 Net Zero Roadmap, producers including Heidelberg Cement, Holcim (formerly LafargeHolcim), CIMAF, WACEM, BUA and Limak in West Africa are working to green their cement manufacturing processes.
